When is Slaid coming to my area?
Every confirmed show is listed here at Slaid.com on the Tour Info page.  If it's not on the Tour Info page, we don't know about it.  Slaid plays all over the continental US, plus once or twice a year in Canada, the UK and Holland.  Someday maybe he'll make it to Australia and other far-off places.  We'll put it on the site as soon as we know about it.

Can I record the show?

Slaid cannot give permission to record shows.  Only the record company can do that.  Plus, many venues have policies against unauthorized recording.  That said, Slaid won't turn you in for making a personal recording.

How can I get a recording of "He's Six"?
"He's Old; He's Six" is a song written and recorded by Slaid's bass player, Ivan Brown, his wife, Kristen Anderson, Gurf Morlix and Brende Fuller.  Ivan recently finished a CD of his own songs which is now available at Slaid's shows or through www.ivanbrown.com.

What model guitar does Slaid play, and what pickup does he use?

Where can I send a demo CD (or anything else) to Slaid and/or Karen?
Slaid writes his own songs or writes with old friends and is not looking for songs to cover.  Opening slots are also reserved for old friends and Slaid's favorite young artists.  If you send us a CD, we cannot guarantee that we will listen to it.

Over the years Slaid has sent his own share of demos and learned the following:

Established musicians and music professionals are inundated with demo CDs these days; there are not enough hours in the day to listen to even a fraction of them.  Unfortunately, most unsolicited demos/homemade CDs are not very impressive.  This, combined with the fact that people prefer to discover music on their own, results in the unfortunate feeling that demos are a nuisance, and they are often never even heard.

Even if a demo does make a favorable impression, the receiver of a demo is often not in a position to offer any help to the demo artist based solely on the demo; there must be a relationship, a history.

Bottom line is: if you send a demo and don't hear back from your target you might follow up with an email (one!), but that's it.  If the receiver loves the demo, and wants to help out, they will get in touch.  Anything less, and you won't hear anything.  You must move on.

If you still feel compelled to send material, send it to:

How can I get myself (my band) an opening gig for Slaid?
This is the best way:  Keep an eye on Slaid's touring schedule.  When he's headed to your area, call the venue to see if they are looking for an opening act.  If Slaid is not touring with an opener and you have a good relationship with the local venue, you should be able to get the gig.
